In the processing of PTFE products, it is often necessary to combine different parts of the same material or PTFE with other metal or non-metallic materials. The use of binder is the most simple and practical choice. However, since the surface tension of PTFE itself is lower than that of all other solid materials, it is impossible to bond directly. The surface treatment of PTFE products is the key to the bonding effect.
1. Physical roughening process
In fact, the physical roughening process is plasma treatment. Plasma is also called glow discharge. For material surface treatment is a kind of energy called cold plasma. Under the atmospheric pressure of 0.13-0.18mpa, high-frequency discharge generates high-energy ions to splash the PTFE surface and generate many fine concave convex. Compared with chemical treatment, this treated surface can obtain higher bonding strength because it does not receive the action of air and ultraviolet light.
2. Chemical treatment process
It mainly includes the preparation of chemical treatment solution and PTFE surface treatment. The available chemical treatment solutions include sodium naphthalene treatment solution and liquid sodium ammonia solution. The former is mainly used in China.
3. Bonding
The PTFE products with the above surface treatment and the materials required to be bonded with them can be bonded with a general adhesive.
